Our New
Library, Parks and Recreation Center
South San Francisco's new 75,000 square foot Library, Parks and Recreation Center is under construction. The iconic building, housing the cherished programs of the Library and Parks & Recreation departments, promises to be the crown jewel of North San Mateo County and a beacon of opportunity for all.
Science & Technology Discovery
Center
The Discovery Center will provide pathways to college and career success in the STEM economy,
featuring a makerspace, digital media studio, and science lab. A free resource for all ages, the space will continually evolve to meet the needs of tomorrow’s learners.

Library
The Children’s Library will double in size to 6,000 square feet, transforming into an interactive learning environment, featuring an Early Literacy Center, Homework Help & Study Rooms, and Teen Zone.

Zone
The Children's Library will feature a space designed for the very young, where story time will be held daily among the books, in a variety of languages. Interactive early literacy stations will keep the little ones busy learning and playing for hours.


Children’s Classroom
The Children's Classroom will be the new home-away-from-home for a group of our youngest learners. Designed for preschool ages, the classroom will help meet an ongoing community need for quality early literacy instruction and childcare.
Homework Center &
Study Rooms
With access to eight study and group collaboration rooms, students will find the space they need to excel academically. Nestled among the books, the homework center will feature computers, laptops, and a variety of seating.


Teen
Zone
Less than a mile walk or scooter ride along Centennial Trail from two high schools, teens will find a spot created just for them, separate from the children and adults, designed for socializing, gaming, and, of course, studying.
Art, Dance, & Music Classrooms
The Community Center will be a place of creativity, with an art classrooms, two dance studios, and three music rooms.


Project Read
Project Read's award-winning literacy services for adults, serving North San Mateo County, will have a new home at the Community Center and Library. Many adults have learned how to read, manage their finances, and use computers through Project Read programs.

1.3 Acre Park & Playground
The Community Center will open up to a beautiful outdoor space, with two age-appropriate playgrounds, an athletic field, and an interactive fitness loop encircling the park and connecting to the popular four-mile Centennial Trail.
Fitness & Exercise Programs
Classroom spaces will be outfitted with athletic flooring to support active, social lifestyles for the adult and senior populations.
